WCHRI Realizing Healthier Pregnancy Research Cluster

The WCHRI Realizing Healthier Pregnancy Research Cluster welcomes the participation of all pregnancy researchers. We will host bi-monthly presentations to introduce our current research cluster members, present key problems these members seek to address and work to build our interdisciplinary networks and research engagement to unravel these challenges.

Join us to discuss the mechanisms of how stress can potentially affect maternal mental health and pregnancy outcomes. We will explore how we may advance our understanding treat preterm birth, fetal/newborn inflammation and environmental mental health stressors and their transgenerational consequences.

Please share this invitation with your networks! All researchers are welcome!

When       Wednesday May 1 (11:30am - 1pm MDT)
Where      Zoom

Speakers:    Meghan Riddell and Helen N. Jones
Meghan Riddell is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Physiology at the University of Alberta. Her research focuses on the formation of the placenta and the adaptation of the uterine lining to pregnancy. Interests include understanding how deficiencies in these processes lead to the development of pregnancy complications. Her research is funded by CIHR, NSERC, NFRF, CFI, WCHRI, Alberta Women's Health Foundation, the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation, and the Calgary Foundation.
Helen N Jones is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Physiology and Aging, Obstetrics and Gynecology and Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at the University of Florida and Co-Director of the Center for Research in Perinatal Outcomes. Her research studies the placenta physiology/pathophysiology, placenta vascularization, placental therapeutics, and the impact of these on the lifelong health of both the mother and offspring. Her research is funded by the NIH/ NICHD and the Wisconsin National Primate Center.
